Your shared account and study
Spitsbergen Library and TOT Bible use the same account service, provided by Supabase. It processes your email address, account identifier, sign-in provider and authentication information to sign you in and connect your books and study data. Use the same sign-in method across the website and apps to access the same account.
When you use signed-in study features, book highlights, personal notes, reading markers and reading progress can be synced to that account. These records are access-controlled and are not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized service operators may access records to operate the service or resolve support requests. The administration dashboard reports aggregate reading activity, not personal notes or highlights.
The website uses necessary account storage to keep you signed in and local storage for reading settings. The native app keeps sign-in credentials in the device Keychain. Guest study, saved answers, reading lists and event notes in the native app stay on that device unless you choose to share or export them. Downloaded books and other local copies remain subject to the app’s account and download controls.
Purchases
Payments are processed through Stripe. The Library keeps order and book-access records so that purchases remain available in your account. Payment details are entered through Stripe’s checkout. See Stripe’s privacy policy for its handling of payment information.
Website reporting
Our hosting provider records standard server access logs, which can include IP addresses, requested addresses, timestamps, browser information, and referring pages. These logs support website operation and security.
Our private reporting dashboard summarizes those existing logs into page-request counts, book-reader opens, general device categories, and referring websites. It does not display IP addresses, individual browsing histories, or full referring addresses. Identified automation, security scanning, rapid automated browsing, administrator browsers, and recognizable testing are filtered. Other requests remain unclassified. To estimate browser-like visits, network addresses and browser signatures from existing logs are grouped temporarily in memory with a 30-minute inactivity gap. No grouping keys or visitor identifiers are stored in reports. Estimates are not unique-person counts; repeat visits, shared networks, browser changes, and undetected automation affect them.
This reporting adds no analytics cookies, client-side tracking scripts, persistent visitor identifiers, or session recording. Reading activity reports use aggregate counts from existing saved reading positions; they do not show an individual’s notes or highlights.
Ask the Library
Questions submitted on the website or in the app are sent to the Spitsbergen Library service. To prepare a generated answer, the service sends the question, relevant conversation context and selected source passages to OpenAI. Some suggested questions use prepared or cached answers instead. Do not include confidential or sensitive personal information in questions.
Answers may be cached by the service to improve speed. Our generation requests use OpenAI’s API with response storage disabled; OpenAI may still retain information for service operation, security and abuse monitoring under its own policies. See OpenAI’s privacy policy. The separate ChatGPT integration is covered by the integration privacy policy.
Retention and account deletion
Account and synced study records are kept while needed to provide your account and its features. You can request deletion of the shared Library / TOT account; this affects both products and removes active access to purchased or gifted books. Limited transaction records may remain for accounting, fraud prevention and payment support, and recovery backups may retain earlier records during their retention periods.
See account-deletion instructions before proceeding. Device copies and downloaded files must be managed separately. Ask questions are not necessarily linked to your sign-in, so contact support if you need help with a specific question or cached answer.
Access and questions
Private administration is restricted to authorized ministry accounts. If you have a question about your account or information held by the Library, please use our help form.
